Dave Winer started it. Now I’m seeing articles on women in computing everywhere I look. Did you know that Wired has a whole section on women in computing? Some of it is fluff, but lots of it is interesting.
One article profiles a woman who profiles virus writers.
‘An effective deterrent program could be based on the sort of research and profiling that she does, and would have to transform the image of a virus writer from “cool” to “non-cool.”‘
One article profiles Google’s research director, who “is a woman — and she’s been that way all her life.”
BTW, at my last job, I worked with the most amazing system architect I’ve ever met. She was a woman, and as far as I know, she still is.
