J2EE vs DotNET. [via CamWorld] J2EE wins overall, because it plays nicely with others in the hetergeneous environments businesses will inevitably end up with. This, of course, was one of the driving factors behind J2EE in the first place, based on the eight classic fallacies of distributed computing:

• The network is reliable
• Latency is zero
• Bandwidth is infinite
• The network is secure
• Topology doesn’t change
• There is one administrator
• Transport cost is zero
• The network is homogeneous

Microsoft has, at one point or another, acted on all of these fallacies. “The network is homogenous” is just the latest.
