Gartner: Rewrite IIS. Microsoft: Major parts of IIS 6 will be rewritten. Joel: Rewriting is moronic.

Apparently, we’re not the only country dumb enough to think that a national ID card would curb terrorism. Great Britian wants it too. However, there is some opposition, since it would infringe on civil liberties and hasn’t curbed terrorism in countries that have tried it, like France and Spain. Chilling quotes: The card could also function as a driving licence, credit card and store card … It could be linked to social security data and health records … The front of the card would bear a photograph, the name of the person, their address, national identity number and signature. A thumbprint or fingerprint could appear on the card’s face or be stored in the computer chip and appear as a barcode on the front or back of the card. Hell, why stop there? Why not simply burn the numbers into our arms?
