ZDNet: Microsoft admits IE security alert lapse. A confusing headline, but this article claims that Microsoft knew about the bug described in this security bulletin for a week, but chose to publicly chastise the security expert who found it instead of fixing it promptly. I wrote about this last week. I wish I had archived the security bulletin as it was first published; now that a patch is released (and people all over the world have chastised Microsoft for their arrogant tone), they have rewritten the bulletin and removed any trace of hostility. They even thank the security expert for his help in “protecting customers”. Feh.
