CNET: Open-source projects grab dot-com dropouts. The down economy has breathed new life into open-source software projects as unemployed software engineers pitch in. The boom times brought us lots of open source (backed, as is was, by millions of dollars of mostly poorly-spent venture capital and bad business models). And now the bust times are bringing us… lots of open source, this time as a labor of love. Guess it wasn’t all money-grubbing and snake oil after all.
