Leslie Harpold: Need to Know Basis. #4: The real number is twelve not nine.
I’ve recently realized that my weblog is becoming less of an integrated portrait and more of a constructed persona. This is especially ironic, given that I’ve just completed integrating my archives from previous weblogs. But now I read things like Leslie Harpold’s latest delicious piece, and I find myself hesitating to link to it and add my own items.
When did this happen? Maybe when I started pointing the students I teach in my day job to my Dive Into OS X FAQ and getting emails from them later saying they had read the rest of my weblog. Maybe when I checked my handy-dandy site statistics script and discovered that my readership has doubled in the past few months (now 500 visitors per day, measured by distinct IP addresses). Maybe I just became less interesting.
Motherfucker, motherfucker, motherfucker.
