Microsoft: Unchecked Buffer in Internet Explorer and Office for Mac Can Cause Code to Execute (Q321309). [via Forwarding Address: OSX] Affects Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac OS X/9/8, Mac Outlook Express 5.0-5.0.3, Mac Entourage X/2001, Mac Powerpoint X/2001/98, and Mac Excel X/2001.
Oddly, the security alert does not link to the various patches, although almost all are available. Here they are (choose all that apply):
- Mac OS X users must update to Internet Explorer 5.1.4 via Software Update. Please note that Software Update is rather dumb and will generally not update applications that you’ve moved from their original installed location.
- Mac Internet Explorer 5.1.4 for OS 8/9 (no patch, must redownload the whole thing)
- Mac Outlook Express 5.0.4 for OS 8/9 (no patch, must redownload the whole thing)
- Mac Office X update
- Mac Office 2001 update
- There is no patch for Mac Powerpoint 98 yet.
