My site statistics page is not scaling well. The whole point of the page is to keep up with people who are linking to me, so I can carry on a dialogue (respond to their responses and so forth). But this is becoming impossible: yesterday I had 120 unique referers (by domain). The statistics page has degenerated into a “hey look at me I’m popular” page, which (as Eeyore would say) is amusing in a quiet way, but not all that helpful.

Thinking out loud, how about a breakdown of referers by what they link to? This information is available in my access logs, I’m just not taking advantage of it. And I can sort the links chronologically by sorting them alphabetically, because I have a standard year/month/day structure to my permanent links. Reversing the order will put the most recent posts on top, and permanent blogroll links to the home page at the end. Must work on this tonight.
