So here’s a question for the hard-core geeks in the audience: I have a dual-boot Windows + Linux machine, currently booted into Linux. I have a shared partition (formatted as FAT) which is mounted in /mnt/d/. I have several CVS projects on this partition which I would like to use under both Windows and Linux. However, under Linux, the special “CVS” directory shows up as “cvs” (lowercase), apparently because that’s how mount works on FAT volumes. This prevents cvs from recognizing these projects as being under CVS control. And creating symbolic links does not work on FAT volumes, either, so that’s out.
It appears that I can either:
Unfortunately, I can’t figure out how to do either of these. Can someone help, or suggest a door #3? Email me.
Later: the check=s option may help. According to the vfat documentation, this sets up the mount to be case-sensitive, which is not the default. Must investigate this tonight.
Later still: nope, no luck with any of the mount options. Still searching.
