I hear thunder. This is a good thing. Here in Apex, NC we have been having a drought all summer. But it didn’t start getting ugly until about a month ago, when it was realized that we, collectively, have less than three months of water left and then we’re out. No more nice filtered water coming out of our refrigerators; no more irrigation systems automatically watering our nice green sodded suburban lawns. Mandatory water restrictions have been in effect all month, which means that my beautiful garden is for shit and my beautiful lawn is nothing but weeds and crabgrass, the kind that thrives on quasi-desert conditions and gets angry when you mow it. So now I hear thunder, which means that it might rain, which will only serve to piss off my already crabby lawn but might do a bit to replenish the local lakes.

I am aware that I could have worse problems.
