Interesting rundown on the iPhone at Slashdot, there. It’s refreshing after a week of hand-wringing, sniping, and floaty proclaimations re: world domination by Apple. The iPhone is very alluring, but $600 alluring? Uh, no. My cell phone was “free” with a 2 year contract with Cingular, and does exactly what I need it to do: Interrupt me with wrong-number calls anywhere, anytime. I have a Palm T3 for an integrated listen to music/play solitaire anywhere, anytime experience. Both items combined cost me less than $600. But I like that Apple is thinking about “what’s next”, even if they didn’t quite get us there.
