Before You say good-bye to Microsoft:
http://people.debian.org/~rmh/goodbye-microsoft/screenshots/, the last screenshot - is’t that just beautiful? Nice typesetting, carefully choosen tab stops, custom tailored line-heights, perfectly tuned kernings - everybody can see that somebody must have been working really-really hard to build that visually appealing First Screen of really lovely Debian Installer interface. The devil is in the details.
Why would Microsoft issue a C&D? Are they violating any laws with this website?
I’m pretty sure the word “Microsoft” is a registered trademark, and using it in a domain name like this could conceivably make a lawyer cranky. I’m not saying that’s good or right or that they’d win, but there it is.

I don’t believe there is sufficient potential for confusion — eg, someone actually thinking that goodbye-microsoft.com is operated by Microsoft — that this could be a problem. And even if Microsoft thought they had a valid complaint, they probably know better than to give something like this the press exposure that would result from giving them grief about it.
The tab stops… now there is a problem!
