Dear politicians of all stripes:

Everything you have ever said is on Youtube. Please adjust your behavior accordingly.

Thank you.

  1. Dear OECD Citizens,

Think yourself lucky your voting behaviour is not exposed on Youtube. You can carry on voting for whoever you think can support your mania for excessive consumption of the world’s commons, thus terrifying any politician who might, for the briefest of moments, consider espousing anything remotely progressive.

    Thank you.

PS. You’ve got maybe 20 years.

  2. President of Iran (Ahmadinejad) has solved this problem, he has filtered Youtube (and many other sites) in Iran!

  3. Or said by the beloved socialist, H.L. Mencken

“A politician is an animal which can sit on a fence and yet keep both ears to the ground.”

    or my techie favorite

“For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple,…..
    and wrong.”

  4. Corollary:
    Dear Anyone, the same applies.

  5. Another corollary:

“Everything you have ever said is on Youtube [and completely ripped from context]“.

Like Al Gore’s alleged claims of inventing the internet.

I picture American politicians becoming increasingly bland, as they’re under more and more scrutiny.

  6. Reminds me of this quote by William Gibson:

“In the age of the leak and the blog, of evidence extraction and link discovery, truths will either out or be outed, later if not sooner. This is something I would bring to the attention of every diplomat, politician and corporate leader: the future, eventually, will find you out. The future, wielding unimaginable tools of transparency, will have its way with you. In the end, you will be seen to have done that which you did.”

  7. Dear bloggers of all stripes:

Everything you have ever written we use to judge your arrogance and self-righteousness. Please adjust your behavior accordingly.

  8. Dear bloggers, no one’s reading.

  9. Dear trolls:

    Why do you even bother?

  10. Also, soon video of you saying things you never actually said and doing things you never actually did will also be on YouTube.

  11. Dear ben:
While you make a valid point, the whole purpose of increased scrutiny is that the fakes will be scrutinized, and hopefully outed, as well.

  12. Daniel Axelrod —We agree with you.
Us 3 person and we work on a news site and we know it!

  13. Here’s what I think should be on youtube–the frontline video of the guy that Al Gore and his people bullied into lying about him smoking lots of high grade marijuana in college.
