Despite the promising URL, NYsTopChildPorn.com does not, in fact, contain NY’s top child porn. (”Package contained bobcat. Would not buy again.”) It will, however, be blocked by every web filtering program ever based solely on the domain name — an irony which will sadly be lost on the Attorneys General. I bet they bring in a metric buttload of weird search traffic before they fold, though.
Yeah, I know, I’m joking about child porn. Carlin is dead, Pesci bless him, and somebody’s gotta start picking up the slack.
(The site itself is not notable in any way except as a reason to point out the obvious design flaw — that you’re declaring war on a protocol, and, you know, good luck with that.)
(I really like pluralizing “Attorney General.” And verbing nouns. And parenthesizing.)

But couldn’t it also be ‘NY Stop Child Porn’?

Hear that? That’s the sound of the joke going above your head. ;)
PS: Ooh. Mandlebrot fractal. How long’s that been here? Guess that’s what I get for reading via RSS.

Like Surgeons General, or courts martial. There’s an odd sense of satisfaction in it, but every time I feel that little buzz I decide that I’m being far too Lynne Truss. I spent some time a couple of years ago explaining to my daughter why the plural was “cups of tea” and not “cup of teas”. By the time I got onto how it was “a cup empty of tea” rather than “an empty cup of tea” she pretty much lost interest.
Also funny about the URI… it doesn’t work if you leave off the “www.”. Why oh why do so many places require that?

Apropos of wildly inappropriate domain names, you’ll probably enjoy this episode of the British show Quite Interesting: http://youtube.com/watch?v=K5jKBwkXr44&feature=related
Because their webadmin is stupid. That’s why.
I also enjoy pluralizing “attorneys general”. It reminds me of “the power cosmic” and such things.
Also loving the Sun App Server logo in the favicon. Do they even make that any more?
